The Scottish Government is committed to the health and wellbeing of the Scottish population and ensuring that every child gets the best possible start in life. We are committed to supporting women to breastfeed as the normal nutrition for babies and demonstrated this by providing additional investment for breastfeeding support services over the past four years.
Health Boards, third sector and other partners have received funding to meet the cost of projects and initiatives using QI which are aimed at improving the breastfeeding experience for women across Scotland.
Colleagues and stakeholders from across health visiting, maternity, infant feeding, neonatal and public health shared improvements and innovations in breastfeeding which are contributing to achieving our national stretch aim – to reduce drop off at 6-8 weeks by 10% by 2025.
